As part of my senior thesis project, we each chose a topic that was meaningful to us. Each topic should relate to the theme of transformation in some way, and it can be developed into any design outcome.

Reading is participating. Words, phrases, and narratives do not exist in a stagnant form, but rather iterate in meaning from person to person. In Peter Mendelsund's novel, What We See When We Read, he writes that "Authors are curators of experience." In order to shed light on this experience, I designed a space where participants can recognize what reading literature means to them. By exploring the act of reading fiction in an interactive exhibition, participants will be able to recognize their own subconscious creativity. Visitors will therefore gain a new understanding of how reading fiction augments their own imaginations.
This immersive literary experience was designed to stimulate the imagination while promoting collaboration and communication. Throughout this project, I found myself reframing my perspective, looking at the bigger picture while simultaneously designing for the details. My goal was not only to tell a story, but to encourage others to play a part in the story so that it could become more than any one person.
The interactions throughout the exhibition challenged me to create a more adaptable space that would reflect the ideas and imaginations of others. As I continue to create future projects I am always looking for ways that design can listen, instead of simply tell.
